Computer ports
Every peripheral used by a computer will need to connect to it by some kind of port, be it the old PS/2 ports for keyboards and mice, a USB (universal serial bus) or by RJ-45 Ethernet connection.

An older type of computer port is the Parallel port. Used as a point-to-point connector, Serial ports and its associated cables work by sending 8 bits of information at once and allows the use of printers and scanners.
